Well-known and popular plant with small blue, star-like flowers. It is low with a rounded, dense growth habit. Easy to grow, thrives in both sun and shade. Great as a border plant. Decorative alongside shrubs such as goldenrod and dogwood, or tulips. Biennial plant, but often becomes a perennial because it seeds itself. Do not weed the seedlings in the fall. Thrives in most types of soil, preferably slightly moist, but very frugal.
