Add color to your weekend with cut flowers

Flowers last longer if you use clean vases, remove leaves that end up in the water, and change to fresh, cold water every few days. Store-bought flowers benefit from getting new cuts after transportation from the store so they can more easily start absorbing water again.

If you want to arrange bouquets like a florist, place the stems in a spiral around each other and tie them with twine or a wide thread at the point where you want to hold the bouquet together. Choose a main flower, such as a rose or peony, a flower with smaller flowers to place in between, like chrysanthemums or spray roses, and then some greens, such as lady's mantle and some green leaves, and you have a beautiful bouquet. With a ribbon in a suitable color, you have a nice bouquet to give away.
